Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present."

Happy Thanksgiving.....

What I am Thankful for…..2006

Posted by Picasa "I will praise God's Name with song and glorify Him with Thanksgiving." Psalm 69:30 Last year I wrote what I was thankful for just before Thanksgiving. During the wait for Mikala I found it was very helpful to stop and think about all of the things that had occurred over that year. In the spirit of tradition I will begin again……. When I begin to think about 2006 I realize how blessed we have been this year. I also begin to realize how many changes have occurred in such a short period of time. It is amazing to realize that it has only been 8-months since Mikala has come home; 8-months of being a new Mother, 8-months of being a new father, 8-months of being a big brother. So many lives had been touched and changed by one small girl. I knew before she came home that things would change but it is just so awesome to look back and see! Logan has grown by leaps and bounds to become the big brother I knew he would be. He absolutely adores his sister and for that I am so thankful. He has spent much of the year stepping back to let his sister step forward, he has done so with patience, and a kind of understanding, that seem way beyond his years; this is a 10-year old boy who just a short time ago was an only child. I hope one day he will look back at this and see just how proud his Mom and Dad are of him! I have been thinking a lot lately about the support from family and friends that we have received over the last year. Coming home to find a house filled with balloons and bags of clothes, toys, and ready-to-heat foods was amazing!! One particular friend had taken the time to print pictures of our new family off our blog while we were in China, she assembled the pictures and went around to our Pediatrician, teacher, Pastor, friends from church, and family members and had them all sign, with blessings a well-wishes! Two days after we arrived home a neighbor showed up with still more clothes, and I cannot forget the support and strength we received from our church, its members and our Pastor. I am so thankful to all of you for all you have done! Again this year I am thankful for my husband, who is my best friend. This coming April I will have had the privilege of knowing and loving him for 20-years!! Over those years we have seen many changes together, some good, and some bad, and some downright surprising! Through it all he has been my steady rock. This year however, he has really stepped up to the plate above and beyond. He works 12-hr days and takes classes for work; trying to better himself for his family. He helps where he can around the house and always, always makes time to spend with his children. He has sacrificed sleep on numerous occasions just to be there when his son comes home from school. I have come home from an outing a few times to find him waiting up just to have a few minutes with his daughter. The best gift he gives me though is the freedom to be here for our children 24 hours, 7 days a week. I do work very, very part-time from home, but it is so little help to our income that I realize he has sacrificed himself for me without complaint. I am also thankful that this year’s weather has been mild. We sure deserved a break! Finally, I am thankful for my daughter. She has brought so much light and life into our lives. She has taught me things about myself, as all children do in their way, and she gives her love unconditionally. She trusts with her whole heart. She smiles at the drop of a hat with a smile that lights my heart. It’s a smile I try and try to capture on camera but really feel I have not been able to do. She has this complete need to learn and try new things. It is amazing to watch her observe and absorb things going on around her. Best of all though, I feel this funny feeling that she “gets” me, that really and truly understands who I am and what she means to me. I am so grateful to this gift from God.

That was beautifully said. I had a great time spending my thanksgiving day with your family and everyone else. Thank you for being so welcoming to me. And tell Logan next time I want a rematch! He sure was fun to play with. Thanks again!
