I guess I have always had the opposite problem with M's hair--wild, unruly, long, and a dry tangly mess when she came to us. I cut it often! It is her curls that make the most extreme of messes in the back of her head, so we avoid the stress and tears by keeping short--at least she loves and wants short hair so that is good for me!
