Kung Fu Panda

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the "present."

All about Gwendylan...

What can we say? I know there are many people dying to hear how she is adjusting...I am not sure if its just us, or her, or what...its just been such an easy transition for us all. The other day she told me she was going on an airplane..("Fei ji" in mandarin...which actually translates to "flying machine")... anyhow, she was flying away to somewhere, and I of course wanted to know where...I asked her (as casually as I could muster lol)..."Where ya flyin to, China?" She looked at me and said REAL loud, "No way!" (phew! was all I could think!!) I said (still faking casual)..."do you want to go and visit China?", She said "No, thank you!"...She was actually taking her baby to the doctor for a shot lol...It has turned out to be a new game for her and Mikala. I think it is because Mikala talks of taking a plane to Chicago to see her doctor... The long and short of it is that we are all doing amazingly well. Gwen is not without fault, she is completely and totally a normal, typical, 7-year old. She has moods, good and bad...she gets annoyed and she can cause trouble. She can be loud and obnoxious (especially when she is tired). She is also very loving and out going. She WANTS to do the right thing and will go out of her way to make you smile. She can make you laugh so easy, and is quick to respond appropriately when she knows your not happy. Most of our issues center between Mikala and Gwen, they share soooo much space and time that it is inevitable that they get under each others skin from time to time. The flip side to that is...when we separate them and encourage them to do their own thing, they have no clue what to do without the other person! If you add a friend to the mix? The girls STILL play with each other! So, all that said, they are each others' best friend. We are so completely and totally blessed, and praise God for providing us with this wonderful blessing we call family.

Susan, I love this post! I am so glad to hear that things are going well at home, but I could already tell in China that the right girl had come to the right family. Isn't it funny how the girls just match up? In our family, too, even with the age difference, Pearl and Grace are two peas in a pod. And, like you mentioned they have their moments, but they are kids, right?!
You guys are so great, I love to follow what is going on with you!
Love
Kim

I so needed to read this post as I am getting ready to tell my agency what age I will accept in a SN child....I seem to be drawn to the older children.....
